Read, Comment, Dancing about Strictly Come Dancing

Well, here we are in Week 8 of Strictly Come Dancing. In tonight’s show we saw three couples at the top of the leader board with a score of 36 from the judges. They were Tom and partner Camilla, Cherie and partner James and Lisa and partner Brendan. It’s funny how all three dances were ballroom dances. Tom danced the Quickstep, Cherie danced the Waltz and Lisa danced the Viennese Waltz. Out of these three couples, for me the best was Tom, who looked so natural and professional. Tom got some nice comments from the judges as well. Len said that he was right in character and that there was a charm about it. Bruno said that it was like watching Jumping Jack Flash. Arlene said that he was jumping on giant stones and not on hot coal and that he deserves a place in the final.

It seems as though it’s hard for couples to dance a Latin dance and get a good score from the judges. We saw John again at the bottom of the leader board with only 12 points from the judges. He danced the Cha cha cha. Jodie danced the Samba and got 23. It looked as though John had given up on the whole dancing thing or he’s just too excited about Obama being elected as the president this week. He was just walking around and it was like watching him do the training still. I feel John has gone really far and it might just be his time to leave the competition and go back to what he does best, journalism. Even though John can’t dance the judges were a bit harsh and not even interested to comment on his dance. Craig only gave him 1 out of 10 and said that it was a disaster. Arlene said that John was outstanding when it came to dancing really badly.

The second on the leader board was Rachel and Vincent who did an American Smooth and they got 35 from the judges. Below them were Christine and Matthew who danced the Jive and got 31. I felt as though Christine’s dance was underscored as her Jive was very energetic and exciting. On the other hand I felt that Austin’s Rumba was over-marked. He got 29 for his Rumba, where his hips were very stiff. But I have to say that Erin did a great job with the choreography.

Heather and partner Brian danced the Tango and got 27 from the judges. Craig said to Heather that it was a marked improvement and that the dance suited her a bit more. Arlene said that Heather got stronger and stronger week by week. Len said that he saw drama and passion in it.

Here are tonight’s scores:

Tom and Camilla: 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 36
Cherie and James: 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 36
Lisa and Brendan: 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 36
Rachel and Vincent: 8 + 9 + 9 + 9 = 35
Christine and Matthew: 7 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 31
Austin and Erin: 5 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 29
Heather and Brian: 6 + 7 + 7 + 7 = 27
Jodie and Ian: 3 + 6 + 7 + 7 = 23
John and Kristina: 1 + 3 + 4 + 4 = 12

3 Comments on “Judges want John out of the competition!”

  1. strictltFan Says:

John is wicked, specially the way he asked public to keep him in the competition. He started his dance with receiving a phone call, do see the hidden message there? All strcitly fans should call and keep him in! GO SERGEANT!

  2. Elizabeth Says:

My husband and I are the biggest fans of Strictly and have atched it for the last 5 seasons. We also watch Dancing with the Stars (I am American, my usband is British) and Strictly is by far and away the better show – it has soul! Lots of soul!!!

BUT…Saturday’s show resulted in a travesity of justice. John Sargeant should have been off the show weeks ago – or maybe never been invited in the first place. What started off as ‘cute and entertaining’ for the first few weeks has now become a mockery. Heather Small and Jodi Kidd have worked so hard to improve and to see Heather in the dance off this week made us sick. And to see John’s face when he was the first announced he made it through – well I just wanted to slap him.

The voting public are either nimrods or…playing right into the judges hands, especially Craig’s because the nimrods obviously want to prove CRH wrong – or royally piss him off and in doing so the other judges too. Maybe next week if all four judges give him 1’s (can you do 0?) the public will get the message. Maybe it’s time for Len to instruct the public as he did last year – I cannot remember who the weakest link was that kept popping up but finally she left. But be mindful the nimrods will want to save the underdog – well that would be a step up!

Or perhaps John will do the decent thing and leave the show voluntarily. Maybe this should be part of the new rules for 2009 because for sure something needs to be done to prevent this from happening again. To some extent it happened in 2007 but this year is the worst of the worst.

John has to go – one way or the other. The professional dancers, and the celebrities who have shown so much improvement deserve better than what happened this week.

Best of luck to Heather Small. And welcome Brian my compatriot and such a great guy. You were simply wonderful to and for Heather. You both deserved a better outcome.

I totally agree with Elizabeth’s comments. Strictly is in danger of becoming farcical if John Sargeant is not eliminated. How demoralizing it must be for the professionals and their partners to continually seeing John being saved each week. This is supposed to be primarily a DANCE competition. To watch most of the competitors improve and become graceful dancers is the entertaining part of the programme not an idiot being laughed at each week.
